A code that indicates the subject area of a course

Interpretation / Usage Notes:

For example, the ‘COGS’.
Subject may also indicate whether a course is undergraduate or graduate. For example, undergraduate math courses have a Subject of ‘MATH’, while graduate math courses have a Subject of ‘MAT’. However, in several cases the Subject is the same for both undergraduate and graduate courses within a given subject area.
